July

  • Daniel Jordan from ABC Enterprises visited to discuss our involvement with the local ABC Centres. Said our cross-promotion via the breakfast program is used as a National model
  • Met with youth workers, Council reps and other local professionals re THE BOX – a project to source new ideas for local employment, particularly for and from our youth. GI-FM will play an integral part in the project using our on-air and web resources to facilitate discussion

  • 2nd talked on GI’s 65th Anniv to about 70 ladies at Traralgon Probus Club
  • 11th launched Breast Cancer Awareness Day for Rural Women in Sale women from all over Gippsland and southern NSW attended
  • 18th attended Q2 Emergency Services Meeting in Bairnsdale (committee member)
  • 24th MC’d Literary Dinner at Maffra organised by ABC Centre Sale for author Anne Summers
  • 26th to Benambra to inspect the zinc mine to be reopened
  • 31st staff celebration for 3GI’s 65th Anniversary

November

  • 1st spent the day with a journalist from The Age for feature article on ABC Gippsland
      
  • 1st delivered Meals On Wheels with Broadcaster Allen Moore
  • 2nd The BOX Project launched “live” on Drive (technical problems prevented full coverage)
  • Sat. 5th MC’d the 90 Mile Beach Country ‘n Folk Festival at Loch Sport
  • 9th attended inaugural meeting of the West Sale Migrant Camp Water Tower Memorial Project
  • 10th attended assessment meeting on BOX entries
  • Sat. 11th led the singing for the re-dedication of the Sale Cenotaph in a re-enactment of the original service.
  • 14th MC’d the MSO concert at the Memorial Hall in Sale
  • 27th addressed the monthly Gippsland Business Women’s dinner on GI’s history
  • 29th conducted a media training session for the “Introduction to Emergency Management Course” conducted by the SES and held at Paynesville. Powerpoint Presentation

  • Sat. 2nd MC’d and performed at RAAF Base Community Carols with RAAF Big Band
  • Sat. 9th participated in the Maffra to Sale Motorcycle Club Toy Run (on a Honda Goldwing)
  • Sun. 10th MC’d and performed at Rosedale Community Carols
  • 12 – 14th Deb Bye, Kellie Wilson and Georgia Spokes worked with ABC TV for the Radio Pictures series
