DEBBIE BYE – Bio

Deb is a media and administration professional and award winning program maker. Before her current position with the Uniting Church, she conducted freelance media training and consultancy through her company, Manna Media.

Deb‘s radio career of over 30 years includes 17 years with ABC Radio, nine of those as Manager, ABC Gippsland and prior to that with ABC in Mackay, Queensland. She was re-engaged by the ABC in 2016 on a casual ad-hoc basis as Content Maker. She is the founder and was CEO of community radio station Life FM Gippsland from 1999 to 2015.

She holds a Diploma in Management with RMIT, a Social Media & Internet Marketing Certificate, has tutored Journalism (technical) at the University of Central Qld and conducted accredited media training for Victoria University.  Deb has also conducted freelance  media training and consultancy through her company, Manna Media. She has also recorded family and community histories and has received awards for her work in this area.

Deb is an inaugural Fellow of the Gippsland Community Leadership Program Alumni and served on the Board of the Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (GCASA) and was Secretary and co-founder of the Gippsland Women’s Network. She was appointed as Life FM Gippsland’s first Station Manager/CEO on 23 June 2003 after founding the organisation in 1999.  She resigned from Life FM in September 2015.

Deb  was appointed to a position of Pastor in the Uniting Church Presbytery of Gippsland in February 2019 as Missional Support Resource Minister.
